1. Development of weather based pest models for forewarning of the out-break of the pests

The Agricultural Meteorology Division, India Meteorological Department, Pune is proposing to record pest observation with collaboration with different Agricultural Universities/Institutes.
The prime objective of such collaboration is to develop weather based forewarning model for the out-break of important pests of major crops grown in the countrty.

It is proposed to record pest observation by using sex pheromone traps and lures.

At present field experiments are being carried out at about 23 collaborationg Agricultural Universities/Institutes in the country.

This Division wants more collaboration for reording pest observation for developing weather-pest models to issue advisories for taking timely plant proection measures to save the crop from pest attack.

The required traps, lures along with the instruction of installation of traps will be supplied by the Division.

Interested Agricultural Universities/Institutes may write to us for such collaboration.

    Automatic Weather Station

2.Installation of Automatic Weather Stations:

This Division is installing Automatic Wearher Stations in various agroclimatic zones of the country The prime object is to record different meteorological/agrometeorological parameters in the major crop field. The data to be generated will be used to develop different agrometeorological products for preparing Agromet Advisory bulletins for the farming community of the country.
